Local Film Now Playing at AMC Theaters
It’s rare for a locally filmed movie to go straight to movie theaters. Usually, they go straight to digital.
On Friday, January 9, the movie Trust Fund had its premier showing at Town Center AMC Theaters, 119th & Nall. It is playing at all local AMC theaters. If the box office does well here, it will be picked up nationally.
The story centers around a Chicago writer (Jessica Rothe) who is more comfortable being at her plush home than working for the family publishing business. She soon discovers a secret in the way of a trust fund left by her mother and decides to pursue an adventure.
The story was written and directed by Lee’s Summit native Sandra Martin and filmed and produced by husband Isaac Alongi of Prairie Village. Half of the cast is local. All scenes, except for stock photography, were filmed in Kansas City. (An Italian villa is actually set in a house in Mission Hills.)
“It is the first time someone has shot here but made it look like other places,” says Alongi. “We are very excited for people to see it!”
