Maybe you can’t beat City Hall, but at least you can give them advice on area improvements.
A Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) hearing for citizens of the 6th District to sound off will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., (June 21), at Hillcrest Community Center, 10401 Hillcrest Rd. District Representatives will be on hand.
A more expansive community hearing, called the Red Bridge Area Plan meeting, will be held Wednesday, June 22, at Center High School, 8715 Holmes. This will update plans to an area from 85th Street to Blue Ridge and State Line to 71 Hwy. Unlike PIAC, which has annual hearings, Red Bridge Area meetings have not been held since 1990.
The hearings for the Red Bridge Area center around future land uses and development.
PIAC hearings are for public improvements that include anything from sewer and water improvements to sidewalk repair, better public lighting to playgrounds and swimming pools.
The PIAC will use information gathered through the hearings to recommend projects for funding to the Council for Year Thirty-Four (Fiscal Year 2017-2018) of the one-cent sales tax for public improvements.
More PIAC meetings will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at Country Club Congregational Church, 205 W. 65 St. and on Wednesday, August 24. at Hillcrest Community Center again. Or you can e-mail PIAC@kcmo.org.
Additional Red Bridge Area Plan meetings will be held in August and October. Or you can participate online at anytime.
