Are you looking for something fun and safe to do this Halloween season with your kids, or maybe even your dog? Here are some local places that have planned an event for the community.
Saturday, October 22
Howl-o-ween
Why should people get to have all the fun? Bring your best friend out for a costume contest, agility course, best trick contest, and the chance to win prizes at Howl-o-ween. They will be giving away hooowwwling great prizes for puppies and dogs alike at this free event. Who will win the free Tails and Trails Dog Park passes?!
Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10-11 a.m. at The View Community Center, 13500 Byars Road, Grandview.
Sunday, October 23
Trunk or Treat at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
Little ghouls and goblins are invited to a free Trunk-or-Treat from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 5901 E. 135th St., Grandview. The church’s parking lot will be full of delightfully decorated cars with lots of goodies in the trunks. Kids and parents are invited to make their way through the Trunk-or-Treat zone for candy, games and fun. Plus, the family friendly event will feature a haunted maze, created by the church’s youth; a bounce house; music by a Christian rapper; and a hot dog dinner for $5. Tuesday, October 25
Trunk or Treat St. Thomas More Church, 118th & Holmes, Tuesday, October 25, 5-7pm Candy will be handed out at St. Thomas More Parish from 6-7pm. This event is open to ALL of young parishioners, at STM School or other, nearby schools.
Wednesday, October 26
Trunk or Treat at Blue Ridge Bible Church
Come for a safe Halloween Alternative. There will be a Trunk-or-Treat with fun decorated cars, free hot dog dinner, candy, and fun carnival style games. Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Blue Ridge Bible Church, 8524 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City.
Friday, October 28
Kids Carnival – This free event is at the Hillcrest Community Center, 10401 Hillcrest Rd., on Friday, October 28, features a carnival with games, candy, prizes and photo booth. Up to 6th grade accompanied by an adult. 6-8 p.m. Costumes are welcomes but not necessary.
Saturday, October 29
Trunk or Treat at First Church of the Nazarene Candy, prizes, costumes, bounce house and food! The First Church of the Nazarene at 11811 State Line Rd. will have its Trunk or Treat during the daylight hours from 3 to 5 pm on Saturday, October 29.
Boo at the Zoo – Trick or Treat stations throughout the zoo at Swope Park. Halloween themed activities and entertainment. 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Halloween at Evangel – You can see their sign as you zip by on I-470. Evangel Church, 1414 E 103 St. will have candy, inflatables, concessions, petting zoo, prizes, games and pony rides for the kids from 11 am – 2 pm on Saturday, October 29.
Sunday, October 30
Trunk or Treat & Chili Supper at Red Bridge United Methodist
Trunk or Treat & Chili Supper Sunday, Oct. 30th, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., 636 E. 117th Street, Kansas City. Lower parking lot/Family Life Center. Free candy and chili supper. Everyone is invited to Trunk or Treat on Sunday, Oct. 30th, from 3-5 p.m. in the lower level parking lot. There will be lots of trunks for kids to safely “trunk-or-treat” and fun games for the children to play. Wear a costume and have fun trick or treating, then join in on a chili supper.
Trunk or Treat at St. John’s UMC
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 69th & Ward Parkway, invites you and your family to their “Annual Neighborhood Trunk-or-Treat” on Sunday, Oct. 30th from 4 to 6 p.m. in their parking lot. Lots of fun and safe Trick or Treating for the kids. Costume contest, games, crafts, door prizes. Fun Fall Food and Snacks. Contest for the best decorated trunk. All free and open to the community. In case of rain, the festivities move inside to Brookside Hall.

Monday, October 31
Trunk or Treat Joint Event St. Peter’s and All Saints Episcopal Church, 100 E. Red Bridge, and First Baptist Church of Kansas City, 100 W. Red Bridge Rd., are joining together to present a Trunk or Treat with inflatables, activities, refreshments on Monday, October 31, from 6-8 pm. Hosted at St. Peter’s and All Saints parking lot.
Trunk or Treat at Red Bridge Church of Christ Starting at 6 p.m. on Halloween night the Red Bridge Church of Christ at 101 W. Red Bridge Rd will conduct its 4th Annual Trunk and Treat for two hours. A bounce house and a 38-foot Monster Obstacle Course will also make the night a big treat.
Boo at The View
Get ready for a scare, Grandview, because Boo at The View is back in 2016 and bigger than ever! With new rooms in the infamous Haunted House, a revamped play area in the gym, and more candy than you could ever receive simply Trick or Treating. Monday, Oct. 31, 6-8 pm, at The View Community Center, 13500 Byars Road, Grandview.
