Have you ever wanted to complete an Iron Man-style endurance event but just don’t have the time or ability? Well a perfect event has now been created for the athletically challenged among us.
This year’s bigger and better version of the Martin City .1K World Championships takes place on Sunday, April 30th at 10:30 a.m., at the Martin Event Space, 135th & Holmes Road.
New this year is a Triathlon course including a Swim-Bike-Run section that covers the grueling 328 feet of pavement, with a donut if needed at the halfway point.
If you make it to the finish line you will not only receive a “real” medal but you also qualify for the prestigious .1KMAN free tattoo. If you can’t complete the course by yourself, you can form a relay team and really do it right.
As always, the event will have live music, an event T-Shirt, Martin City Brewing Company beer and pizza. While you recover you can participate in bigger and better raffle drawings which include gift certificates to amazing restaurants, bars and hotels around KC as well as KC Royals swag, art, wine, beer and again this year a unique “Collector’s” bicycle donated by the Bicycle Shack at New Longview.
Awards will include best costume, best team, best high-heeled relay team and many more.
The entry fee is $30 in advance and $35 at the event. Registration can be filled out online at the Facebook page under Martin City .1K Challenge.
Proceeds from the event go toward the Mid America Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
