Suburban Offers Light Treats, Music on Charity Fridays
Shopping for late spring and early summer plants and containers is always fun, but Suburban Lawn & Garden ups the ante with complimentary wine, light hors d’oeuvres, soda and live music during the first three Friday evenings in May. There’s also a feel-good factor—10 percent of all sales go to a worthy cause.
Now in its ninth year, Charity Fridays are being held from 5-8 p.m. May 5, 12 and 19 at both Suburban Lawn locations—the Martin City Greenhouse at 135th Street and Wornall Road and the Overland Park center at 10501 Roe Ave.

Michael Pagan will perform jazz piano music at all three Martin City events, which will be assisted by volunteers from the local charities being honored. A portion of sales will support:
- Johnson County Young Matrons on May 5
- Friends of the KC Mounted Patrol on May 12
- Faith*Love*Hope*Win on May 19
The Martin City facility is a full-scale nursery and greenhouse with 40 acres of plants, landscape rock and gardening supplies. Shoppers are welcome to tour the grounds on a golf cart, and kids can slide and swing on playsets, feed the ducks at the pond and munch on popcorn.
