Grammy Award winner CeCe Winans performs August 25 at the Evangel Church
CeCe Winans Headlines Center School District Benefit Concert at Evangel Church
By Bonnie Mentel
Grammy Award winner, CeCe Winans, will be performing at Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd St. on Friday, August 25th at 7 p.m. for a concert that will benefit the Center School District.
Winans is an American gospel singer and is known worldwide. She is considered to be the top-selling female gospel artist of all time. Her R&B hits include “Count On Me,” her duet with Whitney Houston, from the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack.
“We have formed a pretty good partnership with our school district here, Center School District. In the last year or so, we’ve been trying to find ways to bless them and partner with them. We were just going to have CeCe as a concert, but then thought this would be a great way to include the students there,” said Lead Pastor Jason St. John.
Last spring, the church held a 5K run and donated proceeds to the Center Foundation.
“We will be highlighting the Center Foundation and Center Friends, a mentoring program, for a few minutes. We plan to get the needs of the school out to the community and hope to bless them a little bit financially at the end of the day,” said Pastor St. John.
Center High School’s choir is going to start off the concert. Next, the Evangel Worship Choir and Band (a 100-voice choir) will perform followed by CeCe Winans, who will sing some of her top hits and inspirational favorites.
Evangel Church is located at 1414 E. 103rd Street in Kansas City. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at http://www.cecewinans.com or through the church website, www.evangel.church/events. Tickets purchased through the church website are only available in quantities of one. Single or group tickets can be purchased at the church office, 942-1414.
Concert tickets will also be sold on the premises, if available. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
