Gary Fish, owner of FishTech Group, announced construction of FishTech’s second building will begin this week.
The new 20,000-square-foot building will house the Fishtech Cyber Defense Center, a 24-hour cloud security and threat-monitoring business. It will sit on 10 acres immediately north of Fishtech’s office building at 13333 Holmes Road.
“It is equally architecturally appealing and as very high tech looking as our first building,” says Fish. “My goal all along was to create structures in a campus-like environment that you might find in Silicon Valley right here in Martin City.”
“Beyond the structures, we will also have an outdoor pavillion for outdoor dining, a half-mile walking trail through the back of our property, and a par three golf hole for our employees to enjoy,” said Fish.
The buildings were designed by BRR Architects (see page 7 for an interview with its designer) and will be constructed by A.L. Huber.
“Both BRR and A.L. Huber have been great to work with,” says Fish. “Both have gone above and beyond to make things happen, to fix things when they needed to be fixed.”
FishTech recently completed renovation of its “Annex Building” across the street from its office building. The location served as temporary headquarters while the first building was being constructed. It is currently being used as an internal “incubation space” to foster collaborative teamwork on new products and solutions.
As far as future projects Fish says, “We will be set for a couple of years I believe; however my goal is that we would have to continue to expand beyond our campus.”
“While we have employees in 16 states and growing,” he says, “Martin City will always be our Corporate Headquarters so we will likely continue to look for options for space in Kansas City.”
The current campus will now encompass 44,000 square feet.
