Free tax help for low to moderate income taxpayers, targeted for those 50 and over, is being offered until mid-April at the Red Bridge Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) through a partnership with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

As part of MCPL’s annual Tax Help for Seniors program, trained AARP representatives will answer tax questions and assist seniors with preparing their tax returns.  Participants must register in advance by calling the Branch at 816-942-1780.

Tax assistance will be available starting at 9 a.m. on Mondays through April 16, on Wednesdays through April 11 and on Fridays through April 13.

On Tuesday, February 27, the Kansas City Police Department in partnership with University of Missouri Extension is hosting free tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers on a first come first served basis from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the South Patrol Police Station for persons with adjusted gross incomes of $54,000 or less.
