On Saturday morning, April 14, an estimated 400 students, faculty, alumni and friends of Avila University, 119th and Wornall Rd.,  will mobilize to serve the community with various outreach organizations across the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Known as “Dear Neighbor Day,” this annual event encourages young people in the community to give back and further the university’s mission of ‘serving the dear neighbor without distinction,’ and is part of the 140,000 community service learning hours Avila students complete every year.

The day will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the Avila University Pavilion with a prayer and send-off. Teams will then depart for multiple sites, including food pantries, home repair, and yard work. The event concludes back at Avila at 1:00 p.m.
