Free Movie Night at South Patrol
By John Sharp
Persons may bring their lawn chairs, blankets, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to watch the family-friendly movie “Annie” for free at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 19, on the north rear lawn of the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.
The movie, one of a planned summer movie series by the Police Department at South Patrol, will be moved into the gym at the rear of the campus if it rains. Persons should follow the balloons and signs to the parking area.
Free popcorn and bottled water will be provided at the event sponsored by City Councilmen Kevin McManus and Scott Taylor.
Councilman Taylor stated, “This is a great safe event for families to come out with children and have a good time.” The KCPD has been doing more community interaction including recently hosting a health fair at South Patrol. The City Council has just funded a social worker for each police station to help connect citizens with social services they need. These efforts are to build a stronger relationship with the community.
