Summer Reading
The Blue Ridge Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) will host a kickoff party for its summer reading program for youth and adults at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 31, and the Red Bridge Branch will host a similar party at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2.
Youth can accumulate points to earn books and chances to win prizes by reading books of their choice, attending special programs and doing educational activities at home. Â Prizes include a Kindle Fire, iPod Touch and Chiefs, Royals and Worlds of Fun tickets.
Adults who read at least 1,000 minutes will receive a free tote bag and be entered to win prizes such as concert and Chiefs tickets.
