A4, a manufacturer of team uniforms and athletic apparel, has opened a 175,000 square foot warehouse in south Kansas City at the CenterPoint Intermodal Center on the north end of the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.

The new warehouse, the company’s largest and most technologically advanced, is housed in a 450,000 square foot speculative industrial building at 14901 Andrews Rd. on the southwest quadrant of I-49 and 150 Highway that was completed by CenterPoint in early 2016.  About 275,000 square feet of space is still available for lease in the building.

The south Kansas City facility will significantly shorten shipping times in the central and eastern parts of the country, according to a company news release.  Combined with its other two shipping locations, the release said the new warehouse will give A4 the ability to reach 80 percent of the U.S. population with ground shipping in one or two days.

The release said due to the facility’s central location and technological advancements it is expected to become the company’s most important hub.

“We chose Kansas City not just because of the location, but also because of the community and the many talented people.  We will be here for a very long time and couldn’t have picked a better spot,” said Mark Mertens, owner of A4.
