Demolition of closed Terminal A and street and utility work to accommodate the new single terminal at Kansas City International Airport should start this year, according to information presented at a September 27 south Kansas City open house at Evangel Church hosted by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate, the developer for the project.

The timeline for the project that was presented showed that the city’s development agreement with Edgemoor should be finalized this year and that construction of the new terminal would start in early 2019 and be completed in 2022.

Features of the new terminal that were presented included dining and shopping options, moving walkways, accessible restrooms and an accessible children’s play area, visual paging, a meditation room, a premium lounge and gate lounges, and a USO facility for military service members and their families.

The presentation showed there are now 51 area firms that are part of the terminal project team including 33 minority and women owned firms.

    1. The previous article notified readers of the upcoming public meeting. This article reports what was at the public meeting. – Editor
