Survivors of homicide victims gather for holiday event

A nonprofit organization that provides support and resources to survivors of homicide victims will hold a holiday roller skating event.

Kids Extravaganza

A Kids Holiday Extravaganza from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at Landmark 2 Skate Center, 701 SE Oldham Ct., in Lee’s Summit is being sponsored by , Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides support and resources to survivors of homicide victims.

Admission to the community fundraising event which includes skating for persons of all ages is $10, and all donations are welcome.  Persons may email justice4destinyweaver@gmail.com for more information.

Justice4Destiny provides crisis intervention and support, financial assistance for funeral and burial expenses, and grief counseling to families of homicide victims.  It also offers a Words Over Weapons program aimed at reducing gun and gang violence.

The charity was founded by DiHaan Coody after her 25-year-old daughter Destiny Weaver was found murdered inside a vehicle at Tower Park on June 2, 2017.
