Let the Parade Begin!
Martin City’s St. Patrick’s Parade is March 10
By Kathy Feist
The 32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Parade will be held on Sunday, March 10, from 2 to 3:30 pm. This year’s theme “Be Inspired: Martin City’s Entrepreneurial Spirit” reflects the creative individuality that makes up the small community.
Leading the parade this year will be Grand Marshall Matt Moore, owner of Martin City Brewing Company. (See interview on page 9.) Channel 4 anchorman John Holt will MC the event from the judge’s booth. New to join the parade this year are the Chief’s KC Wolf mascot and the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile.
The parade departs from the State Line Point Shopping Center at Washington Street and 135th Street and proceeds east down 135th Street. The route will be closed to through traffic.
Sponsors of the parade include Volleyball Beach, Jack Stack BBQ, Infinite Energy Consultants, Mac-n-Seitz, Suburban Lawn and Garden, Rob Sight Ford and the City of Kansas City, MO, NTDF grant. Organizers are still looking for a Safety Sponsorship to underwrite the cost of a railroad security crew.
Volunteers are needed for the event. Parade participants can still register up to March 7. Packet pickup will be a 8 pm at MC Crossfit, 201 W. 135 St. For more information, call 816-228-8000 or email contact@mcbca.org. The Martin City Business & Community Association has also set up a new Twitter account @MCIrishpalooza to learn of any new developments.
