Burger State offers hurricane relief
Burger State, 8920 Wornall Rd., is donating $1 (or more if sales lag) for every ham and cheese melt sandwich sold through September 30 to World Central Kitchen (WCK) to provide meals to victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas.
Raymond Reyes, Burger State owner, said WCK has already provided about 100,000 meals to survivors of Hurricane Dorian. The organization, led by Chef Jose Andres, provides meals to disaster victims.
Reyes said the ham and cheese melts are his variation of the ham and cheese sandwiches WCK is providing to Bahamians.
“If a ham and cheese melt is not your thing,” Reyes said, “customers are welcome to place donations in a donation jar. All donations will go directly to the WCK.”
