United Against Crime Day kickoff

Kansas City United Against Crime Day will kick off Crime Prevention Month in south Kansas City with live music and a fun-filled community event designed to appeal to all ages from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 5, at the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.

Kansas City United Against Crime Day will kick off Crime Prevention Month in south Kansas City with a fun-filled community event designed to appeal to all ages from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 5, at the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.

The event, designed to strengthen relationships between the community and law enforcement, will feature live music by Granger Lofton, bounce houses, face painting, free food including hotdogs furnished by 7-Eleven, giveaways, live music, photo booth, speakers,  superheroes and yard games. 

Numerous agencies and organizations that serve the community will have tables at the event including Arts Tech, Community Assistance Council, Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center, First Call, Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers, Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault, Mid-Continent Public Library, Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center and St. Regis Academy. 

A memorial tribute for families impacted by homicide will close the event which is sponsored by the Hickman Mills Community Alliance, the Kansas City Police Department and 7-Eleven
