KC Scholars offers Adult Scholarships
Area adults 24 and up with low and modest incomes who have earned at least 12 hours of college credit or who have an associate degree and want a bachelor’s degree and are not currently enrolled at a post-secondary school may apply now for an adult learners scholarship of up to $5,000 annually for up to five years through KC Scholars.
The current application cycle is open through November 20, and the scholarships will be awarded for the 2020-21 school year beginning in the fall of 2020. They may be used at any of 17 designated Missouri and Kansas colleges and universities, most of which are located or have branches in the metropolitan area.
Two application workshops are coming up in the southland, and interested persons should bring their 2018 tax forms of W-2s so it can be determined whether they meet financial guidelines for the scholarships.
The first workshop will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26, in room 203 of the Business Building at the Longview Campus of Metropolitan Community College.
The second will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at the Blue Ridge Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library, 9253 Blue Ridge Blvd. Registration is required, and persons may register by going to mymcpl.org and clicking on Events, entering adult learner application workshop and selecting the Blue Ridge Branch.
Persons may contact info@kcscholars.org or call 816-581-5700 for more information.
