Avila performs As You Like It at Lutheran High School
Due to the construction at Avila Univeresity’s Goppert Theater, the theater students are taking their next production, As You Like It, down the road.
As You Like It will be performed at the Luther High School theater located at 124th St. and Wornall Rd. from Thursday, November 21 to Sunday, November 24.
Directed by Heart of America Shakespeare Festival’s Artistic Director, Sidonie Garrett, As You Like It is a Shakespearean play as you’ve never seen it before. Flower Power. Free spirits. And hippies. Set in 1969, this take on the classic girl-loses-boy-then-finds-boy-but-must-help-boy-win-girl-while-girl-is-dressed-as-a-boy story was written 420 years ago. It’s the messages of love, good over tyranny, and the importance of youth speaking truth to power which is timely for even these times.
Times are 7:30 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with a 2 pm matinee on Sunday.
Tickets are $10. Free for students. For more information, contact the Box Office 816.501.3699 or by email box.office@avila.edu.
