Several medical marijuana cultivation and transportation facilities in south Kansas City  were awarded operation licenses by the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).

Cultivation facilities certified to grow medical marijuana include two owned by Focus Partners-Kansas City, both at 14655 Prospect, and another by Holistic Missouri at 14514 S. 71 Highway.  The applications for the Prospect site were ranked 1st and 2nd highest by DHSS for meeting its certification criteria among over 500 applications statewide, and the site on 71 Highway ranked 12th.

A total of 60 medical marijuana cultivation facilities statewide were certified to operate.

Ten other cultivation applications in KCMO south of 63rd St. were denied, as were three applications in Grandview and 34 in other parts of KCMO.

Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facilities are licensed to acquire, cultivate, process, store, transport, and sell marijuana to a medical marijuana dispensary facility, medical marijuana testing facility, or to a medical marijuana-infused products manufacturing facility.

Four medical marijuana transportation facilities in south Kansas City were certified to operate by DHSS out of a total of 21 approved statewide.  They are CLS Med-Can Logistics, 24 W. 78th St.; Missouri Made Marijuana, 8651 Hillcrest Rd.; Next Wave MO, 14655 Prospect; and Red Eye Transport, 5620 E. 150 Highway.

A medical marijuana transportation facility can transport marijuana to a qualifying patient, a primary caregiver, a medical marijuana cultivation facility, a medical marijuana-infused products manufacturing facility, a medical marijuana dispensary facility, a medical marijuana testing facility, or another medical marijuana-transportation facility.

Ten medical marijuana testing facilities were certified statewide, but none were in Kansas City.

Medical marijuana infused product manufacturing facilities were certified on January 10. Only two or three organizations in south KC applied and only one was awarded to Red Tractor Cultivation, 4515 E 75 Terr.

Licenses for dispensaries will be announced about January 24 and seed to sale facilities about January 31.
