Martin City cancels parade

Area St. Patrick’s Day parades seem to have come upon a piece of bad luck this year. And that luck is called the coronovirus fear.

Martin City Community Improvement District (CID) has joined Kansas City, Brookside, Waldo, and Belton in cancelling the St. Patrick’s Day Parade for this weekend. However, organizers plan to reschedule a parade at a later date.

“With the increased concern for public safety due to the coronavirus The Martin City CID Board of Directors has made the decision to postpone the Martin City St. Patrick’s Day parade that was scheduled for this Sunday, March 15,” CID Manager Vicki Wolgast said in a statement sent out today.

“We know everyone looks forward to this event each year, but we feel that the safety and wellness of our participants, volunteers and attendees is the most important thing right now,” she said.

Participants are encouraged to watch for further information on the future date for the parade.
