Scavenger hunt fundraiser for Blue Bicycle Fitness

Gyms and fitness centers were one of the first businesses to be shut down during the pandemic and the last to reopen.

For months now, Jan Schmidt, owner of Blue Bicycle Fitness in the Red Bridge Shopping Center, has been leading free group fitness classes on her Facebook page. While viewers may be benefiting from the workouts from their homes, Schmidt has not. Gyms and fitness centers were one of the first businesses to be shut down during the pandemic and the last to reopen. In Schmidt’s case, she allowed customers to freeze their monthly payments until the gym fully reopened. Though fair, the process has hurt her business.

To help out, TriKC Triathlon Club is holding a scavenger hunt fundraiser tonight (Friday) to help support fellow member Schmidt survive the COVID shutdown.

The  Blue Bike Fitness Fundraiser Scavenger Run/Walk/Hunt will  start at 7 pm on Friday, June 19.  The event is open to everyone.

Participants will dash through the Red Bridge Shopping Center and the surrounding neighborhoods on a scavenger hunt that will test the mind and fitness.

The object is to find as many hidden clues as possible in one hour or less and then be the first one to unscramble them to reveal a message. No age limits or age restrictions-all ages are welcome. You do not need to find all the clues to win. The hunt is over when the first message is unscrambled.

All of the proceeds raised will go directly to Blue Bike.  There is an award for first place.
