Greg Razer: (D)

Greg Razer has experience, some strong funding support and a long list of all the endorsements, including those of Missouri’s presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee, Nicole Galloway, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and the blessing of his predecessor, Jason Holsman, who is set to term out of his Missouri Senate District 7 seat next year. 

A native of the Missouri bootheel, Razer graduated from the University of Missouri— Columbia in 2000 with a B.A. in history. Since then, the former Deputy Regional Director for U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (2008-2016) has emerged as a popular policy maker for the Missouri Democratic Party over the course of his two terms representing District 25.

Now, Razer — one of just two openly gay members of the Missouri House — will look to step up to the higher chamber of state office. 

“I wish we could be in a time where Missouri could be a leader in addressing big issues with the nation’s eyes on us. We are in the center of the continent, and yet we are failing on transportation issues. We’re failing on education. We are failing on healthcare. We’re failing our citizens,” Razer said. “I want to represent [District 7] because I want to keep trying to turn this thing around. I grew up in a rural area, and have lived in KC for 20 years.”

Michael Brown (D)

Michael Brown served in the Missouri House from 2004 to 2012. During his tenure, he was a members of the Seat Belt Committee, Drop-Out Prevension Committee, and a member of the Missouri Real Estate Committee and a Task Force for the Civil Rights of the Disabled. He also served on the Jackson County Housing Resources Committee. Despite his impressive resume, Brown does not appear to be actively campaigning and did not return phone calls. Nor did he show up for the South Kansas City Candidate Forum.
