Fall clean up for residents in 6th District

6th District Cleanup

By John Sharp

This fall’s 6th Council District Cleanup will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 10, with drop off sites for bulky items such as mattresses and old furniture, leaves & brush and tires (with or without rims) in the east parking lot of Ruskin High School, 7000 E. 111th St., and the parking lot of South-Broadland Presbyterian Church, 7850 Holmes Rd.  The Ruskin site will accept old electronics.

The only fees are for dropping off electronics — $5 for CRT monitors, $10 for items containing Freon, $20 for LED/LCD/plasma TVs, $30 for CRT TVs 26 inches or less, and $50 for CRT TVs 27 inches or more, wood console TVs and big screen/projection TVs.

Free document shredding also will be available at the South-Broadland site.

All on-site staff will follow social distancing policy, and masks should be worn.

Over 63 tons of unwanted items were collected at the same drop off sites during the last 6th District Cleanup on June 20, including 1,150 old tires.

The Cleanup is sponsored by the City Neighborhoods & Housing Services Department and 6th District Councilmembers Andrea Bough and Kevin McManus in cooperation with the Community Assistance Council and the South Kansas City Alliance.

For more information, persons may call Robert Woods with Neighborhoods & Housing Services at 816-513-8442.
