Pop up Thursday at Jess & Jim’s
By D’Ann Dreiling
“Forget your troubles, c’mon get happy!” And Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse is making “happy” happen.
Christmas “pop up” bars are popping up all over the metropolitan area, and The Upstairs event space at Jess and Jim’s is no exception. Tyler Burch, event coordinator, is excited to offer pop up events every Thursday, 6 to 10, open to the public.

- December 3rd – the featured event includes a performance by Drew Six, with overflowing Christmas ambiance, and a gift-giving gathering that benefits the students at Martin City Elementary School. With a donation of a new article of clothing or a toy for ages five to 12, you will get a Christmas tree shot “on the house”.
- December 10th – Ladies Night at the pop-up featuring karaoke and the music of Melissa Bollman.
- December 17th, – Don your ugliest Christmas sweater for the contest and try your luck at bingo for cash and other prizes. Be entertained by guitarist, Mike Needleman. There is a $10 cover charge.
Gift items for the kids will continue to be collected thru December 17th.
The pop-up will also be open every Friday and Saturday provided there are no special events scheduled. The event space will be Covid correct with a limit of 50 party goers in the large capacity space. Jess & Jim’s is located 517 E 135 St in Martin City. For more information, call 816 941-9499.
And, there’s something new “brewing” at Jess and Jim’s. It’s their own branded bourbon! Mike Van Noy Jr. has selected the barrel from Woodford Reserve stock and proudly embellishes the label with “Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse”. Due to Covid delays it will not be available for Christmas giving, but the restaurant is taking orders. Check out their Facebook page for future bourbon tasting parties.
In the spirit of the season, Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse offers this cocktail recipe that’s sure to keep you smiling. The VanNoy family want to thank their loyal customers for their continued support, and urge you to, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RESTAURANTS!!!
