HMC-1 SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM BEGINS JUNE 7
South Kansas City, MO. The Hickman Mills C-1 School Nutrition Department continues its commitment to combat childhood hunger this summer – making healthy meals available for free to all children in our community. As an extension of the district’s Summer Explorations School Meal Program, HMC-1 Nutrition Services will open meal service to the community at each summer school site.
“Hunger doesn’t magically disappear when school is out in the summer,” says Nutrition Services Director, Grennan Sims. “And the impact of the Pandemic continues to affect our most vulnerable population. Our entire community still needs easy access to healthy food for as long as we can make it happen.”
The HMC-1 Nutrition Services Team will offer daily breakfast, lunch and supper meals on site in person, Monday through Friday, June 7 through July 2. Serving times vary by location; see below for details. There are no income or registration requirements. Any child age 18 years and under may come eat for free, even if not enrolled in the summer school program. Children visiting from out of town can even enjoy a healthy meal with the HMC-1 School Nutrition crew at no charge.
