Free Food Pickups
A new food distribution event for persons in need have recently been added in south Kansas City including a drive-through mobile food pantry open from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Red Bridge United Methodist Church, 636 E. 117th St., which will provide healthy food from Harvesters on the fourth Friday every month.
Other monthly food distribution events in July include:
Friday, July 9, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Center School District warehouse, 8701 Holmes Rd. Go through the bus parking lot to the warehouse.
Saturday, July 10, 7-8:30 a.m., Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd St.
Saturday, July 17, 8:30-10 a.m., Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd. Bring two boxes for the food.
Saturday, July 17, 9-11 a.m., First Baptist Church, 100 W. Red Bridge Rd. Call 913-313-0250 by 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, and leave a call back number to make an appointment. Persons must bring a current utility bill when they pick up their orders.
Saturday, July 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Center School District warehouse, 8701 Holmes Rd. Go through the bus parking lot to the warehouse.
Wednesday, July 21, 9-11 a.m., United Believers Community Church, 5600 E. 112th Ter.
Friday, July 23, 2:30-3:30 p.m., Red Bridge United Methodist Church, 636 E. 117th St.
Additionally, United Believers Community Church has now added a weekly food distribution from 10 a.m. to noon every Thursday through a partnership with Appetite for Humanity that provides boxes of food sufficient to provide three meals a day for seven days.
Evangel Church also provides a weekly food pantry that is open from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Wednesday.
The Community Assistance Council at 10901 Blue Ridge Blvd. on the north end of the Ruskin High School campus provides healthy free food from its food pantry as well as hygiene items, diapers and pull-ups from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 24. Persons are encouraged to call 816-763-3277, extension 100, for appointments, but drive-ups are accepted.
The food distributions are made available by the churches and organizations listed with the support of other organizations such as the Center Education Foundation, Serve the World Charities and Three Trails Community church.
