The City of Grandview held an informational open house for Vecino Group’s Libertad housing development project June 29th at The View Community Center to educate residents on the upcoming 62 units of affordable housing.
Libertad Grandview, a proposed $12 million multi-family development off of E. 127th and Lemon Tree (just east of 71 Hwy and 127 St), would be the first permanent supportive housing development of its kind in Grandview, MO.
The development would consist of 46 one-bedroom units with a preference for seniors and 16 two-bedroom units for families and individuals with children at risk of homelessness. Amenities would include a community living room, classroom, meeting room, fitness space, computer lab, on-site laundry, greenspace and outdoor playground, as well as free WiFi within common spaces.

“It is a basic right for every person to live in safe, decent affordable housing,” said The Vecino Group’s Director of Development. “In partnership with the Missouri Housing Development Commission and the Community Services League {an established non-profit}, the development of Libertad Grandview will be able to assist families with realizing that basic human right.”
In addition, a fulltime on-site Services Coordinator will be hired to ensure tenants have supportive programs such as Housing Stabilization, Case Management, Vocational Rehabilitation, Financial Literacy, and more.
The Vecino Group says if all goes well, construction will begin in late summer and completed in October 2022. Preliminary pricing, based on income, is projected to be $389 to $925 for a one-bedroom unit and $460 to $1000 for a two-bedroom.
The Vecino Group is a company out of Springfield, MO that concentrates its efforts on affordable housing, student housing, and public private partnerships.
