Red Bridge Shopping Center throws a Block Party

By Kady Weddle

After having to cancel their 2019 event, Red Bridge Shopping Center will once again host the South Kansas City Chamber’s 4th Annual Block Party on Saturday, October 9th from 10 am to 5 pm at the center located at Red Bridge Rd and Holmes Rd.

The day will consist of live entertainment (see below), food trucks, vendor and craft booths, free carnival games, and several kids activities. Tanner’s Bar & Grill, a new tenant set to move into the old Blue Moose location, will be giving the neighborhood a sampling of what’s to come as they set up a food booth.

The Strawberry Swing will have juried makers/artists who specialize in ceramics, clothing, prints, painting, photography, woodworking, leather working, metalsmithing, fiber arts, and more.

Highlights will include a beer garden sponsored by Harry’s Liquor.

Center School District’s 9th Annual 5K Run will kick off the event at 9 am.

A Cutest Baby Costume contest will be held on the main stage at 10:30 am. Organizers had to cancel a scheduled car show, however, due to lack of interest.

Participants will see live local school performances throughout the day and have the opportunity to tour community emergency vehicles.

The event is free and open to the public.  For more information, visit southkcchamber.com.
