Here are some of the Halloween events happening in south Kansas City for both children and adults.
October 20
The View Trunk or Treat. 5 – 8 pm. Music, games and candy. The View Community Center, 13500 Byars Rd., Grandview.
October 22
Ivanhoe Haunted Lodge. 7 – 11 pm Bigger and Scarier than ever. Bring out your family and friends and see if you can endure the Frights! $5 per person. All the money raised from the haunted house is put back into our community by supporting the Center school District. 8640 Holmes Rd.
Alexander Majors House Ghost Tour (non-scary) – 6:30 – 8:30 pm. 8201 State Line Rd. 1-hour tours of the Alexander Majors House. The night will include a special performance from the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival’s Team Shakespeare, spooky ghost stories, and information about paranormal investigations at the Majors House. Tours will cover some of the history of the house, ghost legends of the nineteenth century, and stories of spirits supposed to roam the Majors House today. $15/$20 Visit http://www.wornallmajors.org/ghosttours/

KCPD South Patrol Trunk or Treat. 9701 Marion Park Dr. hosted by the South Patrol Division of the KCMO Police Department which provides treats for children in a safe environment from 1 to 3 p.m.

October 24
Spooky Stories around the Campfire. 4-6 pm for ages 5+. 6:30 – 8:30pm for ages 12+. Sit around the fire pit enjoying chili, hotdogs, s’mores and storytelling by Gary and Linda Kuntz. Trunk of Treat. 4-6 pm. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 5901 E 135 St. Grandview. Come dressed in your Halloween costume. FREE fun for the entire family!

Serve the World Charities. 11 am to 2 pm. A fun family event at Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd St., featuring games, inflatables, a petting zoo and pony rides. There will be plenty of free candy, and food will be available for purchase from several vendors.
2nd Annual Howl-O-Ween Pet Costume Contest. Noon. Dress up your pet and head down to Transparent Brewing Company and The Chive Cafe & Market, 14501 White Ave, Grandview. Prize for first place. Doggie Dinners for $5.
St. Luke’s & St. James United Methodist Church 2-4 pm. A drive through Trunk or Treat event at the church, 9420 James A. Reed Rd. Candy for the number of children in each vehicle and grab & go meals will be provided. Persons
are asked to stay in their vehicles and bring their own containers for treats. Wearing masks is encouraged. The church is planning to have enough candy for 250 children.
Costume Contest – An evening of Halloween fun and first place prize at Transparent Brewing Company and The Chive Cafe & Market, 14501 White Ave., Grandview. 7 pm – 10 pm

Red Bridge Shopping Center Trick or Treat. 3-5 pm. Fun, games and candy. A fun outdoor obstacle course courtesy Wonderscope Children’s Museum. Red Bridge and Holmes Rds.
