As holiday party season approaches, event spaces are in demand. The Telegraph takes a look at some new and viable options in south KC.
The Breakfast Spot located at 13164 State Line Rd in Leawood has expanded into an adjoining vacant space adding 2100 square feet to the similar-sized restaurant. With a stylish indoor garage door to separate the two, the B Spot Venue provides privacy for 120 more people. A smaller dining space for 26 people within the venue can also be closed off with barn doors. Televisions, a sound system with microphone and a large projector screen are available for business breakfasts or lunches. DJ lights were installed for after-hours parties. The restaurant is open 6:30 am to 2 pm daily.

Owner and chef Luis Ornelas opened the B-Spot Venue in August after spending after-hours remodeling it himself. He added new dining room tables and chairs that are consistent throughout both spaces. Hanging ferns, a photo booth wall and strings of lights add some fun to the bright space.
Ornelas decided to lease the adjoining space after a traveling to his homeland of Mexico. “Mexico is known for parties,” he says. “There’s a place close to my home that rents out a space for Mexican parties. It was always packed.” After being on a two-month waiting list, Ornelas was surprised when he stepped into the popular location. “It was pretty much just an empty space. So I decided to do the same thing.”
Ornelas, whose cooking career is steeped in local breakfast eateries, is known for his homemade chorizo sausage, which can be found in several menu items, and the Big Mama Breakfast Burrito. For large parties, the restaurant can provide Breakfast Spot menu items or set up an open taco bar.
The cost to rent the space on weekends costs $110 an hour and $60 an hour Monday to Thursday.
