Emergency crews responded to meet South Patrol Officers on a reported injury collision with critical injuries.
The investigation revealed that a black Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling eastbound on I-435. At I-435 and Wornall, the driver of the Chevrolet attempted to change lanes, almost striking a semi-truck and trailer. The driver swerved to avoid striking the semi, over-corrected and went into a slide. The Chevrolet then overturned and rolled several times before coming to rest against the center median.

The unrestrained driver and sole occupant was ejected out of the back window of the Chevrolet, coming to rest in the middle lanes of eastbound I-435. The driver was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The driver is currently in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.
All lanes of eastbound I-435 were closed to traffic at Wornall for approximately 3 hours.
