It’s time for leaf and brush pick up in south KC

By John Sharp

Free curbside leaf and brush pick-up for KCMO residents who live from 63rd St. south to the city limits or east of Blue Ridge Cutoff will be on their regular trash days from Monday, November 28, through Friday, December 2, and will be conducted by separate leaf and brush collection crews.

Residents may set out a total of up to 20 paper yard waste sacks (no plastic bags) and/or bundles of branches no more than four feet long and two feet in diameter, all weighing no more than 40 pounds.

If sacks are sealed only masking tape may be used, not plastic or duct tape.  Bundles of branches must be tied with twine or rope, not wire or plastic or duct tape, and no branches may be more than three inches in diameter.

Residents must contact 311 within 24 hours to request a leaf and brush pick-up if their sacks or bundles are not collected on their scheduled trash day.

KCMO residents with a valid state-issued ID to provide proof of city residency also may take their leaves, brush and grass clippings for free to the city drop-off site at 10301 Raytown Rd. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays until it closes for the winter after-Saturday, January 14.

Persons may contact Missouri Organic at 816-483-0908 or go online.
