Prom Dress Giveaway is underway

The dresses are free to students throughout the metro area.

The First Baptist Church of Grandview is hosting its 8th Annual Prom Dress Giveaway, which runs March 9 to April 15. “We gave 50 away on our first day,” says Amy Blankenship who organizes the giveaway. There are thousands of prom dresses, sizes 0 to 28, to choose from as well as shoes and jewelry. All have been donated to the cause.

The dresses are free to students throughout the metro area.

According to Blankenship, the event has been so popular that after the third year, a year-round showroom was built at the church.

The showroom, 1416 Main St. in Grandview, is open for prom dress shopping from 4 to 8 pm March 16, 21, 23, and 28th. In April, the hours change from 4 to 7 pm on April 4, 6, and 13th.

On April 15, the showroom is open from 10 am to 1 pm to adults only who may be shopping for gala attire.

Giveaways are also hosted during the homecoming and court warming seasons.

Dress exchanges are welcomed as are donations. To donate formal attire, call Blankenship at 816-813-1879 or email blankenshipclan@hotmail.com

Special appointments can also be made for the church’s free used clothing store by calling the church office at 816-763-2200.
