Three-day Brookside art fair showcases 180 artists

The show is Kansas City’s first outdoor art show of the year.

The 37th Annual Brookside Art Annual, showcasing 180 artists from around the country, starts Friday, May 5th at 5 pm and runs through Sunday, May 7th at 5 pm.

The show is Kansas City’s first outdoor art show of the year and is ranked amongst the best in the nation each year.

Work from top artists in over a dozen mediums from jewelry to painting, and clay to printmaking will be showcased under individual tents along Brookside Boulevard between 63rd Street and Meyer Boulevard.

Artists from across the country were selected through an extensive jurying process that brings a new mix of art to Brookside each year. Around 15 local artists made the final cut. (For the final list, visit www.brooksideartannual.com.)

Jason Brueck, Nashville, Tennessee
2023 Brookside Art Annual featured artist

The 2023 featured artist is Jason Brueck of Nashville, Tennessee. Brueck draws his inspiration from images both past and present, light and dark, oftentimes combining the two in hopes of creating a counterbalanced symmetry. Brueck’s artwork will be featured on commemorative shirts, posters, and cards.

In addition to art, food and beverages can be found in restaurants in the Brookside area as well as at food booths run by Cosentino’s Market, Charlie Hooper’s, and Topsy’s/Baskin Robbins.

Children’s activities will be available on Saturday and Sunday at the north end of the show (just south of 63rd Street). Activities range from face painting, arts and crafts, balloon animals, martial arts, crafts and demonstrations.

Show hours are Friday, 5 – 9 pm; Saturday, 10 am – 9 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm.
