Yesterday the Jackson County, Missouri, Assessor’s Office provided updates concerning the availability of walk-in property value reviews for property owners, and additional resources for property owners questioning their property value assessments.
Saturday Filing Assistance:
• The Assessor’s office will be open this Saturday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1300 Washington
Street in Kansas City, MO.
• Assessment representatives will be available to help property owners file their appeals.
• Note: no property value reviews will be done during these hours – representatives will assist with filing
appeals only.
Voluntary Walk-In Property Reviews:
• Beginning next Tuesday, August 1, the Assessor’s Office will accept the first 50 property owners for walkin property value reviews if they meet the following criteria:
• They must have already filed an appeal.
• They have not yet received notice of their hearing date and time.
• They are asking for a review of a maximum of 3 parcels of property.
• Hours for these walk-in reviews will be 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. beginning on Tuesday, August 1, and then
continuing Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. after that date.
• Note: these walk-in reviews are strictly voluntary – every property owner who files an appeal by the July 31 deadline will receive a hearing
Getting Appeal Notices:
• Property owners who provided an email address when they filed an appeal will receive an email giving
them their hearing date and time via email. Property owners are urged to check their email spam
folders frequently in case these hearing appointment emails are inadvertently identified as spam
emails.
• These email notices will be sent out 7-10 days prior to the hearing date.
• Property owners who did not provide an email address when filing their appeal will receive their hearing
date and time notice via regular mail.
