St. Joseph to offer sessions on successful aging

St. Joseph Medical Center is offering a series of four free sessions covering multiple topics to assist seniors in aging successfully.

The sessions will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at St. Joseph’s Community Center for Health & Education at 1000 Carondelet Dr.  Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

The Oct. 18 session will focus on planning, including drafting wills and trusts, planning for Medicare coverage and putting together packets of important papers.

The Oct. 25 session will focus on staying at home as persons age, including making a plan to age well in place, managing medications and recovering and rehabilitating from medical conditions at home.

The Nov. 1 session will focus on accessing appropriate home health care, understanding senior living options and utilizing hospice care if necessary.

The Nov. 8 session will focus on rightsizing persons’ living space and selling their homes if they choose.
