Homicide victim identified in Bannister/Raytown Road shooting

The young man found dead in a parking lot at Bannister and Raytown roads has been identified as 16-year-old Tytus Bridgeford.

The victim is a juvenile black male with identifiers that included an apparent scar above the left eye, a vertical scar in the center of the back of the left hand, and one circular scar on the left hip.

On June 24, Bridgeford was found suffering from an apparent gun shot wound by police around 9:30 AM in the parking lot of Dayspring Pentacostal Church, at Bannister and Raytown Rd.

EMS was summoned to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide.  Detectives have canvassed the area to look for potential witnesses and possible surveillance footage of the incident. Crime scene personnel are working to gather evidence to determine what led up to the shooting.

KCPD is committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

They are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
