Hickman Mills receives funding for Farmers Market

The Hickman Mills area will enjoy the benefits of a farmers market during the region’s height of harvest season.

Hickman Mills United Neighborhoods is launching the Three Trails Farmers Market, set to debut on August 17th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Optimist Bingo Hall, 11154 Blue Ridge Blvd.

The Three Trails Farmers Market is a community-driven initiative aimed at providing residents with access to fresh, locally sourced produce, artisanal goods, and essential community resources. This monthly, seasonal market will not only offer a convenient and accessible location for purchasing healthy food items but also serve as a vibrant gathering place for neighbors to connect, socialize, and engage in community activities.

Shoppers can expect to find a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade crafts and specialty food items, entertainment, community resource booths and possible food trucks.

Brandon Wright, co-chair of Hickman Mills United Neighborhoods, expressed enthusiasm about the market’s potential impact: “The Three Trails Farmers Market represents a significant step forward in addressing the health disparities and poor access to fresh foods in our community. By providing access to fresh produce and fostering a sense of community, we hope to improve the overall well-being in our neighborhoods.”

The farmers market is made possible through a $25,000 grant from the KCMO Health Department and Community Capital Fund.
