At 6:46 p.m. on Saturday, Kansas City fire fighters were dispatched to reports of a possible drowning in Indian Creek, near 103rd Street and State Line Road. On arrival, companies surveyed the scene, interviewed a witness, walked the banks, and set up on bridges above the creek for better viewpoints. KCFD Rescue Companies began conducting a search in the creek, with “swimmers” and launched their Inflatable Rubber Boat. The KCFD Drone was deployed, along with a Human Remains Detection dog , and the Missouri Highway Patrol to assist in the search efforts.
After no rescue or recovery at 11:54 p.m., the decision was made to end operations for the night. Companies were put back into service and the plan is to resume the search tomorrow.
