A Spanish immersion day care facility named Tierra Encantada will open at 114 W. Gregory Blvd in Kansas City in January 2026.
The 14,000 square-foot school will have ten classrooms accommodating care for up to 160 students ages six weeks to six years – with all instruction taking place in Spanish.
The national franchise began in Minnesota in 2013 and has expanded to more than two dozen locations in the Central US. This is the first Missouri location, and the second in the KC metro after the Overland Park site which opened in January.
“The advantages of early bilingual education are profound,” said Kristen Denzer, Tierra Encantada Chief Executive Officer. “Research shows that learning a second language during the formative years enhances cognitive abilities, fosters social skills, and provides cultural awareness that lasts a lifetime.”
The building was formerly office space for Reece Nichols, and is undergoing renovations and security upgrades.
The school will have an indoor gym with a climbing wall, playgrounds and commercial kitchen. Tierra Encantada schools emphasize nutrition with meals prepared on site using a variety of flavors and foods.
