Road rage victim identified, subject of interest in police custody

The Kansas City Police Department has identified the victim of yesterday’s road rage fatality along 71 Hwy and Blue River Road. The victim  has been identified as 32-year-old Keithlin Royster, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas.
Additionally, KCPD has announced that a subject of interest had turned himself in to police yesterday afternoon regarding the incident. He was questioned by detectives for further investigation. Detectives are not currently seeking any additional suspects, and the case has been presented to prosecutors for consideration of applicable charges.

On Wednesday just before 11:20 am officers were dispatched to southbound 71 Highway and Blue River Road on a reported shooting.

Officers responded to the scene where they located a vehicle stopped on the side of the highway and an adult female asking for help. At that time, officers observed an adult male victim, unresponsive inside of the vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounce the victim deceased at that time.

This appeared to be a road rage incident. It is believed two unidentified males were occupying an unknown vehicle when shots were fired, striking the victim.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel shut down 71 Hwy at 85th Street to collect evidence and speak with witnesses. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.
