DESCRIPTION:Fri\, Feb 7\, 2020\n7:00 PM & 9:00 PM \nFull Service Dining is available \nParking is available at the Wattsmill Shopping Center \n1130 W 103rd St \nKansas City MO 64114 \n“One of the longest-running cast members in the 41-year history of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE\, versatile comedian Tim Meadows crafted some of the series’ most memorable characters during his 10 years on the popular late night show. Such characters included Leon Phelps\, The Ladies’ Man and Lionel Osbourne\, host of the fictional public affairs show\, Perspectives\, as well as uncanny impressions of OJ Simpson\, Ike Turner and Sammy Davis Jr.Meadows also played school principal in the hit comedy MEAN GIRLS and co-starred with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock in the blockbuster comedies GROWN UPS and GROWN UPS 2. Most recently Tim co-starred with Andy Samberg in POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING for Universal Pictures\, and will be starting in the new Fox hybrid live-action/animated comedy from Chris Miller and Phil Lord SON OF ZORN\, which is set to debut during the 2016-17 season. \nBorn in Highland Park\, Mich.\, and raised in Detroit\, Meadows studied television and radio broadcasting at Wayne State University before performing improvisational comedy at the Soup Kitchen Saloon. In 1985\, Meadows relocated to Chicago\, where he first joined Improv-Olympic\, and then the legendary comedy troupe Second City. During his three-years at Second City\, he wrote and starred in productions of The Gods Must Be Lazy\, with Chris Farley; It Was Thirty Years Ago Today; and Flag Smoking Permitted in Lobby Only\, gaining a loyal following with his sharp comedic talent. In 1991\, Meadows achieved the dreams of comics nationwide when producer Lorne Michaels asked him to join SNL as a featured player. Nominated for an Emmy® as part of the show’s writing team that same month\, he later made the transition to cast member status two years afterward. \nSeveral years after appearing in a string of films based on Saturday Night Live sketches\, including CONEHEADS and WAYNE’S WORLD 2\, Meadows was offered his own chance at features. The 2000 release of Paramount’s THE LADIES MAN gave the eponymous hero Leon Phelps the opportunity to bring his Courvoisier-drinking romantic adviser to the big screen. That same year\, he left SNL to join NBC’s prime-time line-up as a regular cast member on The Michael Richards Show\, and in 2002\, he joined the cast of the NBC sitcom Leap of Faith. \nMeadows also co-starred in the Sony Pictures comedy WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY with John C. Reilly. Other films include JACK AND JILL\, BENCHWARMERS\, SEMI-PRO with Will Ferrell and ALIENS IN THE ATTIC with Kevin Nealon and Ashley Tisdale. He was series regular on The Bill Engvall Show and Glory Daze on TBS and is a regular correspondent on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS and The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Some of his other television credits include the NBC series MARRY ME starring as Casey Wilson’s father\, The Office\, The New Adventures of The Old Christine and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Tim also lends his voice to animated hit comedies\, The Life & Times of Tim and Bob’s Burgers.”

SUMMARY:Sisters of Selma: The March to Dismantle Racism Continues
DESCRIPTION:The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet stand strong with their commitment of over 350 years: love their dear neighbor without distinction. We are in solidarity with one another. In our Catholic social teaching\, that means “loving our neighbor without distinction” has global dimensions. In our circle\, everyone is included. Dismantling discrimination\, an area of concern that guides our social justice work\, will be illustrated at our Linger Over Breakfast series\, Sisters of Selma: The March to Dismantle Racism Continues\, with Rosemary Flanigan\, CSJ and Barbara Moore\, CSJ\, who marched on Selma in March 1965. \nJoin us as we mark the 55th anniversary of the marches from Selma\, Alabama to the state capital of Montgomery\, that were part of the civil rights movement in 1965. Sisters Rosemary and Barbara will share how their experiences at Selma shaped their futures\, as well as their fellow sisters’\, to be at the forefront of social justice issues. How far has our society come addressing racism\, and where do we still need to go? \nDoors open at 8:30 a.m. Program 9-11 a.m. $15 per session\, breakfast included. Register online at Linger Over Breakfast by Wednesday\, February 26. The event will take place at St. Teresa’s Academy\, Windmoor Center 5600 Main St. Kansas City\, MO

SUMMARY:Center Education Foundation Autos & Auctions Gala
DESCRIPTION:“When you talk to parents\, students\, teachers\, alumni and community members about the Center School District\, words that keep coming up include “family”\, “community”\, “kindness”\, “caring”\, “achievement”\, and “fun”. Nowhere are these characteristics more apparent at one time and in one place than the annual Center Education Foundation Autos & Auctions Gala. More than just a fund raising event (though it is very successful in that regard)\, Autos & Auctions is a place where parents meet corporate supporters\, teachers visit with alumni\, and administrators mingle with community members. Held at the Armacost Auto Museum\, over 250 people share drinks\, a meal\, and fellowship while bidding on over 100 auction items and listening to live music provided by talented Center staff members. The evening program features the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award\, a report from teachers who have received grants and exciting games and activities. In 2019\, the event raised around $50\,000 to support the Foundation teacher grants.” \nThis year’s event will be held on Saturday\, February 29\, 2020.
