Mourning Together volunteers are providing an opportunity for south Kansas City residents to share their stories of loss at their new Mourning Center\, located inside Red Bridge United Methodist Church\, located at 117th St. and Holmes. An introductory Open House for the Mourning Center will be held Sunday\, January 26\, 9:30-10:30 AM. The center is available to the public on Sunday mornings 9:30 to 10:30 and the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00-11:00 AM. The no kill facility replaces the city’s undersized and antiquated former animal shelter at 4400 Raytown Rd. Both facilities are operated by the nonprofit KC Pet Project. The organization recently announced it took in 11\,109 animals in 2019\, an increase of over 600 from 2018\, and had a 95.2% save rate for all dogs and cats.
