SUMMARY:6th District Clean Up @ South Broadland Church
DESCRIPTION:Clean Up Event \nResidents of the 6th City Council District in KCMO may dispose of bulky items\, leaves and brush and waste tires for free at two drop off locations in south Kansas City from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday\, October 26. \nPersons may bring leaves in plastic bags as long as they empty them and take the bags with them. SUMMARY:Paseo Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Historian and history preservationist Diane Euston will give a presentation “Historic Paseo Boulevard; How Did We Get Here?” on Monday\, October 28\, from 6-7 pm at the Martin Event Space\, 135th & Holmes Rd. \nThe renaming of historic Paseo Blvd. was changed to Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Blvd. in January by the Kansas City City Council which bypassed the proper protocol for renaming a street. A petition signed by over 2\,000 residents put the name choice back in voters’ hands by placing it on November 5th ballot. \n“no one is against naming a street after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\,” says Euston. “Just not the historic Paseo.” Euston will explain the boulevard’s significance in Kansas City history during her presentation.

SUMMARY:85th & Troost Rezone @ Center Planning & Development Council
DESCRIPTION:Center Planning and Development Council \nTuesday\, October\, 29 2019 \n7:00 pm \nTrailside Center\, 9901 Holmes Road\, KCMO 64131 \n  \n\nAGENDA\n  \nChris Woods\, architect\, will present plans for 8625 Troost\, a request to rezone from B3-2 and M1-5 to District B4-2 for food preparation\, packaging and distribution  use. These plans were presented to the Marlboro Coalition earlier. \nRyana Parks-Shaw\, 5th District Councilperson will meet with us for the first time to share her concerns thus far and tell us about her proposed Community Engagement Initiative Resolution #190839 and answer questions. \nTerry Rynard\, Director of Parks and Rec will tell us about the November ballot issues and give us an update on Ward Parkway from 89th to Wornall and the progress on the drainage/maintenance  issue next to the former Berbiglia building on 103rd Street. \nUpdates and Announcements \nThe digital billboard ordinance is scheduled before the Neighborhood\, Planning and Development Committee of the Council at City Hall on October 23rd at 1:30pm.  This ordinance will remove the digital ban on billboards from the strong billboard ordinance of 2007 which many of us have worked for and supported.  Our organization\, Southern Communities Coalition \, South Kansas City Alliance\, and the Kansas City Neighborhood and Advisory Council are opposed to the ordinance.  We have asked our City Council to deny the ordinance. \nThe proposed used car lot at 701 E. Bannister Rd (SE corner) has been approved for a 2 year Special Use Permit.  Earlier the BZA (Board of Zoning Adjustment) unanimously voted for denial\, but the applicant asked for a re-hearing and the BZA reversed their decision on a 4 to 1 vote.  We have been concerned about this corner for some time If you are concerned about the appearance or any other aspect\, call 311 to report the condition. \nThe Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is having a meeting on Wednesday\, Oct 23  from 4:30-6:30pm at South Patrol.  It is about  a transportation plan for managing the regional transportation system for the next 20-30 years.  This is an open house with a short presentation at 4:30pm to be repeated at 5:30pm \nFacebook Link:  https://www.facebook.com/events/534137867397996/ \n
