A petition signed by over 2\,000 residents put the name choice back in voters’ hands by placing it on November 5th ballot. \n“no one is against naming a street after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\,” says Euston. “Just not the historic Paseo.” Euston will explain the boulevard’s significance in Kansas City history during her presentation.

These plans were presented to the Marlboro Coalition earlier. \nRyana Parks-Shaw\, 5th District Councilperson will meet with us for the first time to share her concerns thus far and tell us about her proposed Community Engagement Initiative Resolution #190839 and answer questions. \nTerry Rynard\, Director of Parks and Rec will tell us about the November ballot issues and give us an update on Ward Parkway from 89th to Wornall and the progress on the drainage/maintenance  issue next to the former Berbiglia building on 103rd Street. \nUpdates and Announcements \nThe digital billboard ordinance is scheduled before the Neighborhood\, Planning and Development Committee of the Council at City Hall on October 23rd at 1:30pm.  This ordinance will remove the digital ban on billboards from the strong billboard ordinance of 2007 which many of us have worked for and supported.  Our organization\, Southern Communities Coalition \, South Kansas City Alliance\, and the Kansas City Neighborhood and Advisory Council are opposed to the ordinance.  We have asked our City Council to deny the ordinance. \nThe proposed used car lot at 701 E. DESCRIPTION:The city of KCMO is working on updating the Martin City Area Plan and is hosting an open house for area residents and business operators to give their feedback on the plan. \nThe event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday\, November 14\, at Martin City K-8 School\, 201 E. 133rd St. \nBoundaries for the area plan are Blue Ridge Blvd. on the north\, the Belton city limits on the south\, the Kansas border on the west and the Grandview city limits on the east. \nArea plans guide city decisions on zoning\, development and infrastructure investment and should be updated regularly to reflect the current long range goals of community members.  The existing Martin City Area Plan was adopted in 2008. It has gone longer than most of the city’s area plans without being updated.
