They need to hear from us that we need more because of the increase in crime. With questions\, call Stacey Johnson-Cosby\, 816-591-5921. \n\nIn light of the increase in violent crime in South Kansas City\, our neighborhoods\, through our umbrella organizations representing thousands of citizens\, are having our next regular meeting on 12/1\, the 4th in the last year or so\, with Police Chief Rick Smith. We will discuss the police budget and potential solutions to address our community concerns in addition to urgent staffing issues.\nIn addition to the chief\, our neighborhoods will also be joined by South Patrol Commander Darren Ivey\, a representative from Metro Patrol\, Dawn Cramer from the Board of Police Commissioners has also confirmed (all are invited) and from the city council\, Ryana Parks-Shaw and Andrea Bough have confirmed (all 5th & 6th district councilmembers & at large members and the mayor are invited)\, and the city manager will send a representative. \nOur goal is to continue what we consider our regular community meetings with the police chief & commanders\, and also others who impact the city’s budget to make sure our voices are heard this time (as opposed to the same day vote) in the budget process to share our ideas and get questions answered in response to our public safety concerns. We desperately need more police officers due to the shortages caused by attrition and the steady increase in crime. \nOur meeting will be held in person at the South Patrol station at 9701 Marion Park Dr\, and virtually on Zoom (and call in) on Wednesday\, December 1st at 7:00pm. All are invited to register at: https://kcmopolice.eventbrite.comin order to get the Zoom link and add their name to the list for the door.

DESCRIPTION:Carolers from Connection Point Church will start Raytown’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday\, December 3rd at 6 pm. Raytown Water will provide hayrides\, a winter wonderland with cookies and cider\, music provided by Raytown Community Band\, and gifts to be distributed by Santa’s helpers. Farmers Insurance will serve s’mores. First 150 children will receive a gift from Santa (Children must be accompanied by a Parent) \nNon-perishable food donations will also be accepted for REAP during the event. \n
