“When does a parade ever truly start on time?” remarked one Truman Farm Villas resident.

Nevertheless, a few minutes after 1 pm a parade began snaking through the nine residential buildings that make up the 55+ retirement community located at 5300 Harry Truman Drive in Grandview.

Community Manager Karla Thompson thought up the idea of a St. Patrick’s Day parade for residents and put out the call for Grandview city groups and other partners to help out.

The Grandview Fire Department and the City of Grandview sent trucks, and representatives from First Onsite, the company working on a restoration project at Truman Farm Villas, marched and handed out candy along with representatives from other local businesses and Truman Farm Villas staff.

Residents enjoyed Truman Farm Villa’s first-ever community St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Workers from First Onsite, who are working on renovating the facility clubhouse, marched in the parade.
