Two Metro Patrol Division police officers who received an Outstanding Public Safety Service Award from the South Kansas City Alliance on Oct. 7 for their prompt and effective medical care that saved the life of a non-breathing one-month old infant girl received a life-saving award on Nov. 16 for their actions from the Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association.

Officers Richard DuChaine and Charles Owens restored an infant’s breathing during a call.

Their latest award noted that when Police Officers Richard DuChaine and Charles Owen got the call last November of the non-breathing infant, they raced to the scene, sprinted to the door and immediately began chest compressions and back blows that restored the infant’s breathing and monitored her breathing until emergency medical personnel arrived.

They later visited her in the hospital during her successful recovery and their latest award noted she and her family still keep in touch with their heroes.
