Resource fair will provide on-site help

Rachel Casey didn’t want the typical resource fair where visitors walk through a maze of tables collecting literature. “I want this to be an engaging experience,” says Casey, CEO of Community Assistance Council. “So as people move among agencies, they can receive onsite services.”

Many of the 37 organizations will do just that on Saturday, February 17, at CAC’s first annual Community Resource Fair held at the Optimist Bingo Hall, 11154 Blue Ridge Blvd. (near Red Bridge Rd and Blue Ridge Blvd.)

Some of the onsite services include Evergy providing application assistance, Goodwill assisting with resume writing, and South Patrol providing child IDs and hygiene items.

The free event will include organizations seeking new employees or agencies that can assist with finding employment and provide benefits and assistance to families.

Other participating organizations will help with diapers and other hygiene items, educational opportunities, safety, security and utility bills.

Over the course of three hours, doors prizes will be given out and games such as “Pantry Pile-Ons” and “Diaper Stacking” will keep the event exciting.
